    • Listed as an heir in his Uncle Gilshot's (Jr.) will. Does not specify who Edward is, it is my supposition. There is an Edward Pye in the 1830 Census in Oglethorpe. Edward and wife lists as ages 20 - 29 and 1 female under 5

      In the name of God, Amen. I, Gilshot Thomas of the state of Georgia and county of Scrivin, being sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God for the Same and Calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die, due make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to Say principally and first of all I Give and recommend my Soul to hands of God who gave it and my body to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors who I Shall hereafter name. Nothing Doubting but I shall Receive the same at the General Resurrection of quick and dead though merits of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and as touching Such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I Dispose of the Same in manner and form following that is to Say my Request is that my swamp stock of hogs, one young Sorrel horse also all the Slaves now made both in the Swamp and Savannah be sold to the best advantage, and money arising from the Same to be applied to the payment of my Just debts and Funeral Expenses and the Remaining part of my Estate both Real and Personal to be Dispose of as hereafter follows to wit my desire is that Edward Pye be paid out of my Estate Sum of twenty five cents and Each of the Rest of my Lawful Heirs the like sum of twenty five cents as their full part of my Estate and the Remainder of my Estate to be Equally divided between Bud Kade Hedgcock, Elizabeth Hedgcock, Gill Hedgcock and Edward Hedgcock Share and Share Alike. Also, my Desire is that Hannah Hedgcock Should live on and Enjoy the privilege of my plantation whereon I now live without Interruption During her natural life and take care of four above named children to wit Bud K., Elizabeth, Gill, and Edward Hedgcock and also to use any part of my Stock not pointed out to be Sold for the Sport and benefit of her self and the aforesaid Children and at her Decease the Tract of Land whereon I now live together with what of my Stock Shall be Left to become the property the named four Children to be divided as above directed and I do hereby appoint and ordain John Freeman Senior my Sole Executor to See my Last Will and Testament fully and truly performed in Testamony whereof I have Set my hand and Seal this Second day of May in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and nine.
